QUARTZ-TUBE-TECHNOLOGY
A quartz tube most often consisted of a
coil of Kanthal wire, fitted into an open
tube made of quartz glass. Other than
normal glass, quartz glass could
withstand the high temperatures of the
glowing Kanthal. Commonly the quartz
glass was semitransparent with a milky
white colour, caused by a fabrication
process that leaved a great number of
tiny air bubbles in the glass.
