ROYAL-PHILIPS-NV
In 1991, the company's name was changed from N.V. Philips Gloeilampenfabrieken to
Philips Electronics N.V.. In the same time Philips started a major restructuring
program and in 1997 the headquarters were moved from Eindhoven to Amsterdam
along with a corporate name change to Royal Philips Electronics N.V.. From the
turning of the century Philips step by step withdraw from their former core businesses
Semiconductor, Light and Consumer Products and focussed on the more profitable
medical care- and healthcare divisions. In 2009 the tanning activities of Philips were
transferred to JW Sales GmbH and in 2013 Philips omitted the word "Electronics"
from its name, which then became Royal Philips N.V..
