SUN-AND-HEAT-LAMP-INTEGRATION-II
In order to be of any use for therapeutic
applications, the serial Kanthal ballast had to be
dimensioned in such a way that it would intensely
glow and emit a significant amount of short wave
infrared radiation. For this purpose the Kanthal wire
was made much thinner in order to let it glow. The
wire was encapsulated by a quartz tube, allowing a
more stable fixation of the wire, as can be seen with
the Neckermann Capri N92 sunlamp on display
here.
