Original Hanau Alpinette PL25 sunlamp
SUNLAMP-WITH-SINGLE-SECTION-HEAT-LAMP
Many sunlamps equipped with quartz
tubes were given the possibility to switch
off the discharge tube and apply the
quartz tubes as a heat lamp. In the most
basic configuration, as with the Original
Hanau Alpinette PL25 sunlamp on display
here, the discharge tube was simply
by-passed, making the quartz tubes to
operate at the full supply voltage. As a
result the quartz tubes would glow up
more intensely and the wavelength of the
emitted infrared radiation would become
shorter and, for therapeutic use, of a
better quality. With this construction the
wavelength during combined operation of
the infrared- and the ultraviolet radiator
was consequently longer and of a lower
therapeutic quality.
