Quarzlampen GmbH , a joint venture of Heraeus
(Hanau, Germany) and AEG, produced the first
mercury vapour arc discharge lamp for therapeutic
use. The products of Quarzlampen GmbH were
branded 'Original Hanau' and their product name
'Höhensonne' would become a generic name in
Germany and abroad.
